Director of Massachusetts Highway Safety Department has been in SEVEN car accidents
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...9-tickets.html
The head of the Massachusetts Highway Safety department needs to start taking her own advice as it was revealed today that she has had seven car accidents and nine traffic tickets.
The Boston Globe reports that Sheila Burgess has been on leave from her administrative job since August following the most serious of her car accidents as it left her with an unspecified head injury.
The credentials of Ms Burgess, 48, are now being called into question as she apparently was recommended for the safety job after years of political consulting with no actual experience in highway work.
A spokesman for Democratic governor Deval Patrick said that part of the reason why Burgess was hired is because she was recommended by Representative James McGovern, who is just one of her former bosses that has political connections.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she has also worked for Senator John Kerry for about four years, with even longer jobs for Congressman John Joseph Moakley and former state treasurer Shannon O'Brien.
Those connections helped her secure her $87,000-per-year government job even though she had no experience in the field of highway safety.
Her personal experience with traffic violations, however, are extensive.
The paper reports that she has had 34 different entries on her driving record since 1982.
Those charges vary, and include four speeding violations and two instances where she refused to stop for a police officer. There are single counts of times when she was cited for not having her license or registration in her possession, not staying in her lane, and not wearing a seat belt.
That final charge is more than a bit ironic, as one of her major campaigns through work has been the need for drivers to wear their seatbelts, 'every trip, every time' as she wrote in a mass email.
The most recent of her seven car accidents took place on August 24, when she drove a state-owned blue Ford Taurus off the side of a road in Blue Hills Reservation, crashing into rocks.

You live here. This story has been on all the local TV stations. This woman is just another political hack who will probably collect disibility for the last accident. She will also get her bloated state pension.
We also recently have had a disgraced criminal Ex State Senator, who was convicted of groping women in public, re-arrested as he stood in his doorway with no pants on while watching his female neighbor rake leaves. He would be voted in again if he ran because he has a D next to his name.
Here is Mr Marzilli...
On April 8, 2008, Marzilli was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Arlington, Massachusetts. In late April, the case was referred to the District Attorney's Office for further investigation. On May 7, Marzilli wrote an email to his supporters, where he declared his innocence and thanked them for their support, but continued to refuse to discuss any details of the case.[9][10] On May 14, 2008, Middlesex prosecutors dropped the case for lack of sufficient evidence.[11]
On June 3, 2008, Marzilli was involved in a second incident of alleged verbally accosting another woman who was sitting on a park bench.[12] The alleged incident occurred in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. The Senator made lewd comments and "he tried to touch me".[13] When Lowell Police arrived, Marzilli gave a false name and later led Police on a foot chase that ended in a nearby parking garage.[14] After this arrest, other women came forward to claim Marzilli harassed them the same day, alleging ("The sex is sweet, you want it, and you want to go with me." "Oh baby, you are so beautiful – your butt is perfect.") .[15] Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr later reported that the false name given by Marzilli was Martin Walsh, which is the name of at least three people known by Marzilli, including a state representative from Dorchester, Massachusetts, a former employee of the late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, and a former employee of the U.S. Department of Justice.[16]
On July 1, the Massachusetts State Senate voted 38–0 to refer the Marzilli’s alleged misconduct to the Committee on Ethics and Rules, which will not release its findings until after his court cases are resolved.[17]
Throughout the controversy, Marzilli remained in office but did end his reelection campaign in June.[18] However, in November after a controversial trip to Germany to two environmental conferences, Marzilli resigned his office.[19] His seat in the state senate remained open until January 2009, when Kenneth Donnelly, who won the November election for the seat was sworn in.[20]
On June 9, 2010, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that Marzilli could be prosecuted for "attempted indecent assault and battery".[21]
On February 22, 2011, Marzilli pleaded guilty to all charges against him, including resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, in Middlesex Superior Court and was sentenced to three months in prison. Marzilli's defense had requested a sentence of three years probation, whereas the prosecution was seeking one year imprisonment for Marzilli.[22][23]
Also in the same town where he was watching his neighbor was the case of a former Selectwoman charged with hosting a SECOND underage drinking party

These are the Democrats in charge of Massachusetts......
Lets not forget 3 consecutive Speaker's Of the House are convicted felons and A state Senator and Boston City Councilman who are in jail for accepting bribes.
Chuck Turner (Boston City Councillor) once held a Press Conference to shout about the taped sexual rapes of Iraqi women at the hands of US soldiers. It was picked up and run by the Boston Globe. The only problem was that the pictures that he showed were screen grabs from a porno movie.

You would be wrong and or close minded of what you think I hate. I hate people that steal. I hate the fact that the Governor of this state just slapped every hard working LEGAL immagrant across the face by allowing some children of ILLEGAL IMMAGRANTS to get in state tuition. All that does is reward bad and or illegal behavior.
Please go find all the stories of the corrupt Republicans in Massachusetts. It will be hard because there aren't any republicans elected in the state.
But yes let's reelect a guy whos wife ran $2,000,000 in illegal gambling proceeds through the houshold bank account and he knew "nothing" of it.
You just hate republicans by your thinking then.

Don't really know why the country of the source makes a difference but it is a story originally from the BOSTON GLOBE. The Brits just like most normal people find the fact that somebody who is in charge of road safety being the cause of a lot of accidents and implementing laws like wearing seat belts when she doesn't wear one to be humorous.

The head of the Massachusetts Highway Safety Division has resigned after it was revealed that she has had seven car accidents and nine traffic tickets.
The credentials of Ms Burgess, 48, were also called into question as she apparently was recommended for the safety job after years of political consulting with no actual experience in highway work.
Sheila Burgess submitted her resignation, effective December 31, in a letter on Wednesday to state Public Safety Secretary Mary Beth Heffernan.
Governor Deval Patrick called the hiring of Ms Burgess in 2007 a ‘screw up’, given her driving background.
Sheila Burgess has been on leave from her job since August following the most serious of her car accidents as it left her with an unspecified head injury. She had been driving a state vehicle.
Ms Heffernan on Sunday removed Ms Burgess from her post and ordered her reassigned within the public safety department after The Boston Globe reported that her driving record dating back to 1982 included seven accidents, four speeding violations and one failure to wear a seat belt.

And her prior experience before getting this job? Democratic fundraiser and congressional staffer.
Patrick also said he would give her another job in the state.

Well, just because she's grossly unqualified in one position doesn't mean she's grossly unqualified in other positions. Plus she didn't give herself the job in the first place.

Although I'm sure it's this way in many states but you get the job if you know someone.
