Howdy. :) I'm just getting back into collecting after a 15 year break, so I'm a relative noob for all intents and purposes. I am mostly a hockey guy these days, but did dabble some in football and basketball when I was collecting before, and just a tiny bit of baseball. One of my sons really got me going with this again earlier this year after he bought some 2011-12 UD Series 2 blister packs. And then he wanted to know when the new stuff was coming out. Which got me looking things up, and I found (and was enamored with) the 2011-12 SP Game Used set. And so it continues again, with me buying what and when I can, and also trying to get my younger two sons more interested in collecting. Unfortunately, my middle son only seems interested if there's an autograph or piece of jersey/patch/stick/skate involved, so I'll have to balance that with the financial piece as best I can. :)

That being said, I'm probably going to try to get my boys more into the lower-end stuff, like Score and O-Pee-Chee, and save the UD/other mid-to-high end sets for me, so to speak. Not that there's going to be a lot of it, though. I converted from a contractor to a full-time employee this summer (been with this company now for just over 2 years total), and so I took a hit pay-wise but I like the feeling that I don't have to worry about my next contract extension or where I'm going to work when a contract is up. So my collecting endeavors aren't going to be as lavish as I'd like for now, but I'll save and buy a box when I can. But I intend to live vicariously thru the box/pack break forums, which can be almost as much fun sometimes. :)
