There is a point there. Some people simply can't complain about working holidays because of their profession. Police, fire and many areas of health care come to mind. Retail does not.

Wick: Americans don't have Boxing Day, they really don't. When I say Boxing Day down here people look at me like I;m an alien.
It's a nothing day here, at home it's a Holiday.

I think it's a paid day off in Canada. Always has been in the past.

Well, the point was Boxing Day was a shopping day. Then there were line-ups the night before. Then boxing week became a thing. Now no one cares. Black Friday is on the same trajectory.
