The base set cards look pretty identical to the 2012 Topps Football base set, except with a chrome finish. The standard sized base set cards have a color action shot of the named player. The card fronts have a graphic at the bottom that contains the player's name, position and team logo. The graphic is colored in the teams primary color. Appropriate cards have withe the RC logo or All-Pro logo. The card backs are photo-less. They contain moderate biographical information, career highlights and complete professional and college statistics. The backs are trimmed with the team's color scheme and logo.

2012 Topps Chrome is loaded with RCs. This product will appeal mostly to prospectors. Along with the serial numbered parallel cards there are lots of base set card variations to chase as well. Several RCs, veterans and elite players will have multiple copies to track down. The card set is punctuated by the occasional horizontal layout cards. My usual complaint about Topps products is the number of insert sets. I would rather have way less inserts and that many more base set cards. Other low marks for 2012 Topps Chrome come form the all too familiar 'chrome curl' and the fact that my only hit was a redemption. I can usually handle one or the other, but both in the same box is a hard one to swallow.

The Bottom Line:
I give 2012 Topps Prime a shop around rating. Buy the singles you want or shop around for the best deal on boxes. Prospectors will love this product. If you buy a box, trade your Tim Tebow cards to me!

The biggest drawbacks being that you will need three boxes for a complete set and the redemption.
