Thats is a progressive tax system - higher the wage the large the rate ...and yes there will be people who do not pay income tax ...why? they cannot afford it. Pretty Simple

Not progressive enough. I am not really borther by the people who can not afford to pay, not paying. I have an issue with people like Romney paying 14%.

progressive taxes only makes it undesirable to achieve or to stay here.

why do you think we have so many 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations of welfare families? because they are not motivated to do anything, it is easier to have someone else pay.

and what will all the charities do when the rich stop donating?

or what will America do when these people simply leave?

all I have heard from the dems is raising taxes on the rich, again do some math, taxing them at 100% would not fix our issues.

you cannot spend a thousand times more than you have and expect to get out of the whole by adding a measly few bucks to your income.

spending cuts are the only way out.

but again this is about social justice and economic equality, which both do not exists in the terms they are used today.

do you know how much school costs for a doctor? and we want to tax them more and pay them less, good way to lose all the good doctors.

All deductions. It's the one idea that Mr. Romney had that I really liked. If we put a cap on what people can deduct from their taxes, it's basically a tax on the wealthy without being called that. Let's put a number out there, $50K. You can choose whatever breaks you want to claim (mortgage interest, student loan interest, what have you), but once you reach $50K in deductions, you're done. You can't claim any more. Only a small percentage of people who itemize deductions will hit that cap.

this is a c ap or removing a loop hole - Romney plan is smoke and mirrors and only raises taxes on the Middle class even thos over 250K is a huge tax increase....

Only caveat to that is that I would not apply the cap to charitable deductions. Otherwise, I agree.

This was how he was going to pay for his across the board tax cuts. I didn't agree with those cuts at all, but I definitely agree with capping deductions. This should be something that gets easy bipartisan support. Our tax code is way out of whack. Why should we give people a tax deduction for having a home office? It's ridiculous. Just put a cap on it, it'll be at least a decent revenue generator for Uncle Sam.

Honestly, I would apply it to charities whose primary work is overseas. I know that's callous, but we have plenty of people to help in our own country. I won't put a cap on domestic charitable organizations.

and I would expect a lot more compassion from you sir

Your ideas lead to those very statements...I have watched it for 30 plus years...listened to the lies and promises from the Conservatives...They honestly have no true understand in my opinion what Government is...then call me a liberal and socialist for wanting to house the poor and feed them...and then educate them to do it for themself...and wow pay more taxes....

    Comical? really?
from you Dan thats a complement...
