I couldn't agree with you more on this one autaxman. She should be talking to them. They may lower the payments over a longer term that she could afford.
Although people make think differently based on what I have stated before, I want people to take some responsibilty. The minimum is talking to the company to try to work out a deal.Last edited by drtom2005; 12-02-2012 at 01:13 AM.

i love the wording of how the petition is to "demand" that the company forgive the loan and "demand" they change the laws.

This story raises issues people should be thinking about such as life insurance. People should have policies that will cover their debts. Anyone could die driving down the highway in an accident. Life is random this way.
Why didn't her son have small policy to cover this portion of his debt?Last edited by drtom2005; 12-02-2012 at 01:50 AM.

Ok, I'll answer it now.
No, the company doesn't have to suspend the loan, nor will they, the #1 purpose of any company is to make profit no matter what.

If every company forgave people for various reasons, they'd go out of business. The story is unfortunate, but if the women couldn't afford the loans, don't co-sign.

That actually does not answer the question at all. Please give me the reason why they should forgive the debt.
Also, how old are you and what do you do for a living? The more of your posts I read, the more I feel that you have little or no real world experience at all. Are you in high school or college?

So why cosign the loan in the 1st place? What if her son ran off never to be heard from again?

Yup..what if he fell in with a group of junkies? She would still be on the hook?
Why cosign if you wont pay?

Because she's his mother and mothers are not known for Spocklike reasoning. I'm not saying forgive the loan.but to question why she co-signed is unnecessary.
