I am really not trying to be confrontational when it comes to this point, but I never understand why you would consider that you have a "dog in the fight" so to speak. None of your tax dollars are at stake, nor are your soldiers. Of course you can disagree, that is your right, but I never can understand the fascination with American politics....at least from a Canadian point of view, that's all I am getting at.

That was my first reaction, but he isn't without a (very, very, very) small point. Ultimately, I don't have a right to give my views on American policy and whatnot, since I'm not American. On the surface, he was totally right.

However, as I'm sure you realize, things go pretty deep. Our countries are so intertwined the idea of a North American Dollar instead of CAD and USD is not farfetched. Most countries are affected by what goes on within the US, but none moreso than Canada. Add to that that we have all your 24hr news stations, and it's hard not to have an opinion.

Plus, I do kind of like being the outside perspective in some of these discussions. The main point though, is that as long as what you guys do affects us, we're going to have something to say, despite having no votes.
