Source: Shane Victorino signs with Red Sox for 3 years $39 million

    http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/...ontract-source

The Boston Red Sox reached a three-year, $39 million agreement with free-agent outfielder Shane Victorino on Tuesday, according to a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations.

The deal is pending a physical.

The terms of the agreement are exactly the same as the deal Boston reached with free-agent first baseman/catcher Mike Napoli on Monday.

You'd think Boston would've learned from their mistakes, instead they just paid $13 million for a platoon player (and he's on the lesser side of the platoon)

Seems like they are going to trade Jacoby now so they essential replaced a young injury prone center fielder with an older and now more expensive injury prone center fielder.

yikes, 13 million for a guy that will probably have a dozen homeruns and hit under .280

Wow. Maybe next the Red Sox will trade for Jason Bay in some kind of twisted deal that also obligates them to pay the rest of Bobby Bonilla's salary.

I laughed when I saw this. Boston should know the feeling of overpaying and wasting the best by know. You think for that price they would've went for a guy like Swisher, who will hit for the same average, but hit 20+ homers and drive in 80+ runs.
