Hello all,

I have to admit I am both sad and a little relieved Gonzalez is retiring....only one more season game. I imagine I will pick up another pc in a year or two but who knows. Gonzo, Steve Young, Heisman, and several master sets is more then enough (not counting non sport related collections).

So first, I guess I will say, thank you Tony Gonzalez for giving it 110% every Sunday for an amazing 16 years.


Produced by PowerBars ("Athletic Energy Food") and released in 1994/95, Gonzo's first card is a basketball card that notes him a freshman (although he was a junior at the time). The set also has two team cards with Gonzalez and perhaps the first card of coach Billy Kennedy, then an assistant coach.

A slight sidetrack but this is just cool, whenever Gonzalez scores a TD, he dunks the football over the goal, did this KC as well. A couple weeks ago, a ref apparently didn't know this.



Since I only have a small portion scanned I guess I will just jump around and post on them for a few days.

2000 Topps Season Opener #191 Tony Gonzalez Topps Vault photo proof and original Topps file envelope. Beside airbrushing the background, they removed the glare from the Wilson logo on the football and lightened up his face some.




Note how they lightened his skin....something Topps did quite often, as my postings will likely evidently show.

Hobrecht has a website which shows many of his fine pieces of artwork, WELCOME TO HOBRECHT SPORTS ART!. He did several other Sketch Cards for 2010 Topps in both baseball and football and was a featured artist in 2010 Topps National Chicle Baseball. His original work goes in the $7000-10000 range with prints in the $400-800 range.
