BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) – If you’re looking for a hockey fix with the NHL being locked out, the National Sports Center in Blaine might be a good spot the next several days.

Some of the top women’s hockey players in the country are headed there for a camp to train and compete for a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team. Nine of the players have Minnesota connections between being from here or playing for the University of Minnesota.

It’s a big deal for the players as only 36 are invited and it serves as a pre-tryout for the world team. Players who are there say it’s an honor to be selected to compete.
