Brian Boucher traded to Flyers (!) with prospect Mark Alt; Luke Pither heads to Carol

Our old friend Brian Boucher is back. The Flyers have traded for the goaltender, according to multiple reports, sending Luke Pither of the Adirondack Phantoms to the Carolina Hurricanes organization in exchange for BOOOSH. Prospect defenseman Mark Alt is also coming to Philadelphia in the deal.

We love Boosh and all, but it's safe to say the timing is a little odd. We talked the other day about how Ilya Bryzgalov is likely going to play a considerable chunk of hockey this season -- potentially as much as 40-plus games in a 48-game season -- and the need for a backup goaltender will be considerably less than in a normal year.
