I've always had mixed feelings about the WBC. I think it can be detrimental to pitchers from MLB.

You could always have players like Al Leiter who pitched after he retired because he said he would basically give up his arm to the club because he wasn't going to be playing anymore. They probably wouldn't be good but they can still contribute.

MLB network says Verlander will likely be taking the last open spot. That would be a big bump for that rotation.

I hope that's not true....

I read that he said it depended how his arm felt, since he's about a month behind his schedule, I'm hoping his arm isn't ready for that..
