Oh, and if you’re looking for a surefire visual tell-tale to differentiate the base Rookie Tickets from the variations, you can find it on the backs of the card. The base versions include each player’s draft, college, height and weight information. The variations do not.

View my store BetaDefintely recommend the Andrew Luck base auto but wait until it comes down. National Treasures is not impressing me so look for the Contenders Ticket to hold up over time. Wait on it a bit and grab em while the are lightly traded on first time exchanges.
Looking at this list, RGIII #202 is a surefire bet with a Rookie ticket print run at 238. I sold Flacco and Matt Ryan from 2008 Contenders last year and with similar print runs at a profit on Ebay.
The obvious variations in the bunch are the Andrew Luck's at a super short 75 announced and the wow factor short, Russell Wilson. I have a 2011 Cam Newton no wristband super short 25 from 2011. Love Wilson but I am sticking with Cam and I am staying away from 2012 variations. Go for the Playoff Ticket or cracked ice if you want to show off your POC scores to your buddies. At the risk of sounding immodest, "in your face with a cracked ice RGIII. I wish. LOL> My bet is that the variations will return less percentage per dollar invested over time. That is MadColtsFan's take.Last edited by MadColtsFan; 02-15-2013 at 08:33 PM.

View my store BetaI love what contenders did this year with different pictures. Last years variations were so lame. Removing the riddell logo was lazy and seemed like a mistake. I love the print runs and everything about contenders this year.

View my store Betaeliteco3 - Try sitting on a Cam Newton no wristband, no logo of 25. Just kidding. Cam is down right now, but I am sticking with him.
People should not have to explain the difference and get out a magnifying glass so I get your point. I agree that lets make the variations obvious. Lets get it out onto the wrapper where it clearly stated that 1:36 contained a variation. Now get into the autos and the short prints and it all gets murky but before I go there I have to finish my thought on last year's variations. Panini caught people off guard out of the gate. It was kind of a trick. It was figured out quickly but in the long run, the missing "Ridell" is always going to need an explanation. I have the Ponder, Locker, Newton, Dalton and A.J. Green SSPs from those variations so take it easy (LOL).Last edited by MadColtsFan; 02-16-2013 at 04:32 PM.

View my store BetaHere is one I have been watching. I bid' on the first 2 that came out and if I am not mistaken this is the 3rd of 75 Andrew Luck Rookie Ticket variations to show up. Usually prices go down after the 'first on Ebays" are gone. Check it out and get an idea for the player you are going after because Andrew Luck is drawing more dollars than anybody else.

View my store BetaI haven't ever really bought contenders but this years is very attractive so i picked up a couple boxes. Do they run SPs on the Rookie Ink insert also? I pulled a Justin Blackmon but only 1 has been on ebay & it is listed as an SP. it isn't numbered on the actual card.
I trade by BV and due to work schedule ship out on Thursdays.
Looking for Cowboys, Andy Dalton, Dez Bryant, Bernard Pierce, Michael Floyd
