So that brings up another question. Why is there no standard acceptable translation of the bible? Or better yet why can't the christian chruch encourage it members to learn how to read the scriptures in their original form? In Islam for example the do not refer to an English version of the Koran as the holy Koran but only as a translation. Muslims are encouraged to learn Arabic so that they can read and understand the Koran the way it was originally written and intended. Why can't christians use the same concept? It would sure clear up a lot of confusion.

Some churches do teach individuals to search out and effectively read the bible themselves but many do not. I agree that it is a problem

the thing is this is true for nearly all works of antiquity not just the NT

I'm saying that, as far as I'm concerned, the Bible is a work of fiction, so there are inaccuracies and contradictions galor, much like other works of fiction (Spiderman was an example).

Sorry, thought I was talking to someone else who wanted a real discussion about the bible.

I'm free to have one. You had a question about why one of the rules was broken (assuming God/Jesus are the same person) and I gave a reason. Now, if we assume that the Bible is real, you'd have to remember that the bible was written by man, and that man isn't flawless, so they could have written it incorrectly. Or, you can assume that, since God has the power to create the universe, he was able to choose a form that will not harm a person by mere sight (since he can do anything). Therefore, yes, God/Jesus could be the same entity, in which one form can be seen and one can't.

Thanks for that. The answer that is, not the pretentious garbage at the beginning. You're assuming things that aren't true.

So it's pretentious to assume that the Bible isn't real? How can you prove that the Bible IS true? Granted, I can't prove that it isn't, but I've yet to see concrete evidence to the truth of the Bible.

I love that there is one response that jeebus is partially god. That's a hoot above all other responses.

It's pretentious to think anything you said is new. It's pretentious to talk to me like a six year old.

Who says I believe the whole bible? That must be an assumption you made that holds no truth.

It's also pretentious to think you know me.

You've said nothing that I haven't heard before, including "God is Spiderman".
So I don't think it isn't new, I know it. Heard it, seen it, said no to the T-shirt and bought a churro instead.
