    If you were never considered the best in the league when you were playing (ie no MVPs) can you be considered the best to never win a championship once you've retired?

    Good point.

    I'd go with Karl Malone as best to have never won an NBA championship so far

    one reason i think barkley should be it. he won it in 1993 and in 1989 had the most first place votes but lost it to magic johnson. Although malone had 2 of them, barkley also was on some really..."iffy" teams.
