Look I am not a Cooke fan at all. I think he got away with murder on the Savard hit with no penalty on the play or suspension for the incident but this current incident was completely accidental and a freak play that was most definitely unintentional. Cooke and Karlsson were battling for the puck along the boards as Cooke tries to pin Karlsson he is on one skate and losing balance. He then tries to regain balance by putting his other skate back on the ice. Instead it hits the back of Karlsson's ankle. Look at the video. Cooke's head was turned the wrong way so he didn't even notice where he was placing his skate. A bit careless and reckless but not malicious intent to take out the Sens best player.

There was a distinct downward kicking motion with his foot, cooke is what he is and he meant to do it. The penguins should be fined everytime he suits up until he is finally sent packing.

The more I see it, the more distinct the kicking motion appears. I will acknowledge that he very well could be kicking at the puck, but his foot is certainly coming down with a purpose.

hit was legal but not clean.
The NHL needs to explain why it's OK for a player to wrap his leg around another to hold them against the boards but not OK to use their arms.
Holding is holding no matter what limb you use.
Start calling these as penalties and skates will remain on the ice where they should be.

Hit was clean, your bais against cooke is showing here, yes in the past he has had some issues but NOT on this hit. No penalty called , nothing but contact made here, unfortunate his skate made contact on karlssons ankle. whatch the heads and the sticks you will see the momentum carries them into the boards and sticks get up alittle and both guys lose some balance.

anywasy you see it one way, I see it another. guess we agree to disagree.

his leg NEVER wraps around karlsson, just lifted up and then comes back down, his skates goes between the back of the skate guard and the leg.

There was no intent on Karlsson, TSN's Aaron Ward made that perfectly clear, but his previous sociopathic antics are sickening, but guess put even Jack the Ripper in a pens uni and he is A ok with you. If Crosby or Malkin were one of his previous head or knee shot victims, instead of Lecavalier, Savard, Markov etc etc etc you would be singing a different tune.Your Homer bias is showing out the ying yang.

    So he's a sociopath now?

I saw the play. Cooke clearly lifting his leg for the purpose of holding Karlsson against the boards. If the purpose of lifting his leg wasn't to hold then it certainly was to "knee" Karlsson in the back.
Either way, the lifting of his leg was the infraction, whether it be to knee or hold the opponent
Look at the first 11 seconds of this video

Apparently there are a lot of mind readers on this forum. Seriously, the only person who knows whether that was an accident or intentional is Matt Cooke.

It doesn't matter if you're Damien Cox, Greg Wyshynski, or an average fan - this is all just speculation. Totally pointless argument, and all that matters is that Karlsson is hurt.
