Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish.
Lao Tzu [QUOTE]
For what goes into your mouth will not defile you, but that which issues from your mouth - it is that which will defile you.
JesusThe fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.

If women want any rights more than they's got, why don't they just take them, and not be talking about it.
I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.
You can jail a Revolutionary, but you can't jail the Revolution.
You don't fight racism with racism, the best way to fight racism is with solidarity.

From one of my favourites, Abe Lincoln:
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?

Mr. O had a quality quip at either the 2010 or 2011 Correspondent's Dinner (I forget which year):
"What a week. As some of you heard the state of Hawaii released my official long-form birth certificate. Hopefully, this puts all doubts to rest. But just in case there are any lingering questions, tonight I'm prepared to go a step further. Tonight, for the first time, I am releasing my official birth video.'' [The screens plays the scene from Disney's The Lion King when Mufasa, atop a cliff, lifts Simba up as the other animals in the savannah look on].
After the video played, he said this:
"I want to make clear to the Fox News table that was a joke. That was not my real birth video. That was a children's cartoon. Call Disney if you don't believe me, they have the original long-form version.''
Reagan had some funny ones too:
''Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying.''
''Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his.''Blog: Hidden Content

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem."
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States c. 1985
"You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is, that they are."

I now have a new favourite quote. I can't stop laughing after reading this:
"To me, 10- and 11-year-olds do bad things. They throw rocks through windows. They shoot BB guns at people's cars. They hit people with sticks; they set a cat on fire. Those are things that children do..."
-Stevens County, WA Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Rasmussen
Your kid hit people with stick and set the cat on fire? Relax! That's just what kids do.
