Not by just cutting, but if we want the economy to get out of this mess, we need to cut spending and not raise taxes any more than we have. I am in no way saying we need to cut entitlements, we need to cut the fraud and fat.
freezing all government payroll for those that make more than in the private sector. freezing pay for the house and senate, cutting their benefits. cutting taxes for business who create and maintain a certain number of jobs. cutting taxes to bring back big corporations to America, even if it means rock bottom. and the list goes on.

Cutting taxes won't bring big corporations back to America as long as American workers insist on being treated as human.

the GOP has no reason to work with the dems, because they already did for the January 1st sequester. they bowed down and got nothing in return but a promise on cuts later. Guess what, it is later, where are these cuts???

we cannot pay down our debt when we run in the red every minute of everyday. you first have to get your spending under control before you can pay off your debt, this is budgeting 101.

This is not a tax problem. Spending is out of control.

I agree that cutting the heck out of all social programs is not the way to go, and I also agree we do need to close certain loopholes and we will need to raise taxes somewhere.
I am saying we need to get our spending cut to what we can truly live with, get rid of earmarks (perhaps biggest loopholes ever), recheck the numbers, then cut tax loopholes and raise taxes according to our needs, based on a sound spending plan.
other wise we will raise taxes, increase spending based on new tax revenue, and be here over and over again.

I agree most of congress sucks, but so does most of the senate.

If you're going to close the 30% gap between spending and tax revenue without touching entitlements, plan on most of the 30% coming from the tax revenue side, which means pain for the middle class.

See this is the problem...thats not the plan that has been put forward. In fact the total inverse. the Presidents plan has those in there. Fact is this will be pain for everyone!

How much additional tax revenue does the plan expect to get without touching the middle class? I'd be shocked if the plan came anywhere near to completely closing the $1 trillion gap.

Are you expecting the budget gap to be closed in a year? and in fact we need a surplus...

Likewise to spending cuts everywhere but the military and corporate welfare.
