Following up on Tuesday's post, House Holds Hearing Today on The Tax-Related Provisions in the President’s Health Care Law: Tax Foundation, Obamacare Tax Increases Will Impact Us All: The Joint Committee on Taxation recently released a 96 page report on the tax provisions associated with Affordable Care Act. The report describes the 21 tax increases included in Obamacare, totaling $1.058 trillion – a steep increase from initial assessment. The summer 2012 estimate is nearly twice the $569 billion estimate produced at the time of the passage of the law in March 2010. ...

What?!! Obama has a plan that involves taking even more money out of the pockets of the working class and putting it into social welfare programs? NO!!!! Oh the horror! Who would have thought that he would run on a platform in 2008 of not raising taxes on people and then spend his entire presidency working to do just that???!!!!

How about the government just lets the people keep more of what they earn instead of distributing it as they please?

Nothing ever cost the amount they say it will. Soon we will have to give an arm to save leg.

That would be neat. Unfortunately one side wants to make sure the poor can live while the other wants to make sure big oil companies make even more money than they already do.

You keep trotting out this comparison, but the amount of money that goes to the oil companies is a drop in the bucket compared to the money that gets poured into the welfare state. Or do you believe they are equivalent?

If cutting PBS is going to save the US economy, then yes, they are equivalent.

The point is, you're all for taking money out of social programs to save the budget, but you hold some delusion that giving oil companies who already make billions upon billions is going to eventually help everyone. The only people it will help are those who can afford to live on minimum wage tourism jobs, because that's the only area that grows when you give the rich more money.

Basically, neither works, but one is at least somewhat honorable. The other is just swimming in politics and greed.

You're incorrect on my position, I support across the board spending cuts.

Obamacare was supposed to save us money, but as we learn more, we're seeing that it is simply going to be a huge middle class tax and continually higher premiums for everyone. The big winners are the pharma and healthcare companies since the government has forced people to buy their product and they have a monopoly situation where they are protected by law so they can charge 10 times more than medical care should really cost.

I'd prefer to keep some of my money than have it given to people who don't try to better themselves.
