Americans smoke less than most of the other countries.
    Americans drink less too.
Americans eat more than their counterparts in other countries.
    America's health is terrible.

Pretty cut and dry to me.

You apparently didn't read the article.

...the United States is at or near the bottom in at least nine indicators.

These include infant mortality, heart and lung disease, sexually transmitted infections, and adolescent pregnancies, as well as more systemic issues such as injuries, homicides, and rates of disability.

Poor diet can cause each and every one of those problems. Even homicide/suicide via depression/mental imbalance. Poor diet can cause birth defects/stillbirths. Poor diets cause poor immune systems, which then can't fight off infection. Poor diet can cause blood pressure issues which can effect the heart and various other organs. Poor diet can cause your liver to work overtime filtering out toxins. Poor diet can cause diabetes, which we all know has many effects on all parts of the human body. Poor diet causes your body to slowly break down, which makes injuring yourself easier, and healing after more difficult.

Basically, all I can really give you is STDs. At the same time, kids are developing faster these days, thanks to hormones the food, so they have the equipment without any sense of maturity or responsibility. So STDs and teen pregnancy I'll give you. The facts remain, though, that:
The US eats more than the others
The US smokes less than the others
The US drinks less than the others
The US has worse health, by far, than the others.

Is anyone except the GOP honestly shocked?

BTW, where are these "USA is #1" people now???

Obama was right in pursuing health care reform the way he did in 2009 and then jamming it through congress!

This IS something government should be VERY concerned with!

But of course, trying to help people (including the poor) is not on the GOP's agenda.

So they brought out their full fledged moronic attacks calling Obama every single name imaginable.

And some of these people still laughably believe that the U.S is indeed the best in health care.

I still blame the GOP 100% for all the nonsense that is "Obamacare".....it should've and could've been a much better plan that what it is.

Most people wanted a single payer option....we didn't get that.

Meanwhile the stupidest women in America (and I really can't emphasize stupid enough here) was out there talking about "death panels" and lying to the entire nation about practically everything the bill included.

Unfortunately, America IS THAT DUMB as to listen to the stupidest woman in America.

Health care reform is actually a tiny part of anything that can be considered a solution to this problem.
    You need preventative care.

    Maybe.

But I believe that one is on an individual's responsibility.

You mentioned that a big problem is how much Americans eat.

In other words, we are a nation of unhealthy eaters...that's not a big surprise, there's a McDonalds on every block here.

Hell, we have strips (conjoining city blocks) of nothing but junk food restaurants in many American cities.

The problem here is that I don't think you can regulate (although some have tried...i.e Mayor of NY with his soda ban) what and how much American's eat.

I really believe this is a BIG problem in this country....but at the same time it's really tough to regulate....if at all.
