Golf box for my dad

Hey all, my dad's birthday is coming up in a little less than a month and he's a huge Golf fan but has never collected sports cards before so I thought I might try to get him into the hobby. I'd like to buy him a box to open (maybe two?), price really doesen't matter, would like to get him something on the higher end side but with more than just a couple cards. I really know nothing about golf cards so advice would be great!

Personally I would suggest Upper Deck SP Game Used. People have been pulling AMAZING cards outta that so far. That runs about $180. You get about 15 cards and you are guaranteed to hit 1 autograph cards and 3 game used cards. Leaf Ultimate Golf is also one of my favorites, but you only get 3 cards (all cards are autographs) and that runs about $60-70

If you are looking for something with a nice set to build 2012 SP Authentic has a pretty good sized setlist, which might help start a collection. But in my opinion the hits aren't as strong as the ones in SP Game Used. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thanks! Yea, I was kinda figuring maybe one box of something for set building and then one higher end box for hits. So maybe Upper Deck Game Used and 2012 authentic. Lots of really cool golf cards out there, had no idea these were even around! Been stuck in my baseball world I guess.

Yeah actually you picked a good time, they made a lot of sets around 2003-2005 but stopped making them, they just started again this year so its been about 7 years since the last golf cards. Now they are making tons it seems

Good question. Somewhat, yes, but I think part of it is that Upper Deck and Leaf dont have any big time lisences any more *UD has hockey, but not NFL, MLB or NBA

Golf is something that they have a lisence for, so they are producing products again to try and keep their companies going

That said, the products are pretty nice, so I wouldnt shy away from them

I agree, SP Game Used golf is the way to go. A three pack box at our local costs $200. Some amazing hits have come out of this product.

SP GAME USED!!!!! Hands down and w/o a doubt one of the best products this year from ANY sport. It seems like on a weekly basis there are big money cards coming out of this product and I was lucky enough to get mine in only 5 packs!
