What will happen now is the Rangers will make the Playoffs and the Jackets will miss them.
The Blue Jackets are already 8 points in the hole from one game. Gaborik is not their saviour. He was apprehensive the other day when told he was traded. Rick Nash took him aside and assure him that he would be embraced in Columbus. Why if Gaborik is such a star would he be so apprehensive? I think he is probably aware that he has just had to put on the same Back-pack that Nash had to for 9 years, and that is a Back-Pack large enough to carry the entire team.
It would not be so bad for Gaborik had they kept Brassard, Dorsett and Moore, then you still have a nucleus, but when you take those 3 away from the Jackets, who up until this trade had been very integral cogs in this years Jackets success, you wind up with one overpaid defenseman, and Gaborik carrying the whole team on his back, something he is incapable of doing.

Even assuming this happens, so? Making the playoffs isn't supposed to be the goal. Winning the cup is. I don't see how this move greatly improves either team towards that end. But hey as long as they're both happy, works for me.
