    Sympathy for the Devil

As this column has been reporting, there is a growing movement in America to "reform" the nation's tough laws against drug dealing. The pressure is coming primarily from liberal and libertarian groups who see the use of...

This article is completely illogical. One person harming themself is not a "public safety" issue. Selling someone with something that can kill them is not a "violent crime" either. If a gun dealer sells a gun to someone who uses it to kill themself, that is not illegal.

It also fails to point out how much actual violent crime would decrease as currently illegal drugs become a legal business and get rid of gang violence.

Actually, you'd see an immediate and noticeable increase followed by steady but slower decline. It's going to be interesting to see how WA and CO deal with organized crime in the marijuana trade. The gangs will have to give up, but they're gonna fight for their money first.
What WA did by legalizing marijuana is significantly up the price of cocaine here in BC. BC pot used to go pound for pound for cocaine, now they can only buy the cocaine with money or guns, making it much more expensive.

Now that I've read the article...
"Comparing drugs to alcohol is an invalid comparison" and they're "apples.and oranges"?

Wrong, Billo. It's not apples and oranges, it's apples and fruit, as in apples are a fruit, alcohol is a drug.
Trying to claim it as anything else is extremely ignorant. Saying everyone can have a beer or glass of wine and still be sober is ignorant. Billo is ignorant. What a dolt.
