Is there a way to remove a signature on an old card?

I bought a picture today with a personaliztion. The picture is an old stock pic that teams used to give out. It reminds me of an old card for the 80's. Slight gloss on cardstock. Is there a way to remove the signature? I attempted using the dry eraser method you use on pics but it didn't work.

    Thanks in advance

Removing a part of a signature is always risky and can damage the item. It almost always leaves a mark where it used to be as well. All that being said I have heard of hairspray and I have heard of goof off for sharpie removal on glossy photos. To me they both leave a mess of the gloss and are not worth the effort or potential damage to the item. Anyone else know something that works?

If its a glossy photo you can color over the sharpie with a dry erase marker and wipe off with a paper towel. I have done it several times and it works well...but the photo has to be glossy.
