Dustin Brown Elbows Jason Pominville: Suspension Worthy?

In the second period of tonight's game, the LA Kings' Dustin Brown threw an elbow that hit the Minnesota Wild's Jason Pominville in the head. That's the nice way to put it.

What really happened was Brown was protecting the puck, saw Pominville coming in from behind and threw a vicious elbow directly to the head of his opponent. There was no need for Brown's elbow to come up, and it was nothing more than lazy play by a player who has already had brushes with the Department of Player Safety Jokes this season. This is not a "hockey play" and serves no purpose other than to injure Pominville.

sorry i disagree with both of you on this one... i do agree with some of the comments tho on youtube.com

"The comments on this video are absolutely retarded. Brown was expecting a hit, Pominville decided to reach down to go for the puck, Brown pushed back assuming he was going to try to equalise a shoulder check, and got Pominville's face on his elbow. He wasn't trying to hurt the guy."

If you see, brown doesnt actually aim for his head, he times the impact and throws his effected side at him, pominvilles head just happend to be there. had pominville gone for the body, it would have been shoulder on shoulder.

but we'll see what happens, shanny might see it differently..
im not starting any arguements with anyone about this..that is just my opinion.

i see he got 2 game on nhl.com .....oh wells....live and learn

I didn't give any editorial comment. Just posted the news of the suspension.

It was a pretty clear elbow to the head. I suppose Pominville had it coming though, seeing as he should have known the elbow was going to come up. Right?
