Great New Cup Rookies + "Beckett Removal Surgery"

    Hey guys,

As you know I'm collecting Cup and was able to grab a couple new nice pieces:

    Hedman Cup /249

    Backstrom Cup /99

    Larsson Cup

    Atkinson Cup

and the best piece of this month:

    Stamkos Cup /91 (because I can't afford the /99)

So the reason for the title:

You guys might remember that I bought this card a while back:

Well it's a great card but the case was really bugging me. So one day, me and Kol got together and used a rotating drill to try to cut off the bottom. I have to say it was one of the scariest card related adventures of my life. One wrong move and my Ovy Cup is ruined forever.

    Anyways, here's the result:

You can see the melted plastic on the bottom from the drill. Some of that got on the inner beckett case but thankfully, nothing reached the card.

So here's the gem all without its case!

Cheers and thanks for the read!

Wow, what a world of difference it makes being out of the slab. Looks so amazing! :)

Next time cut the top! I've removed about 10 bags slabs and the easiest way is between the card and the top label. Can do it in about 5 minutes now

I just take a hammer to the top.. I break off a piece so I can get a flat-head screwdriver in there, then I just pry the top and bottom apart slowly as I move around the entire case with the screwdriver. Done it probably 10 times, never damaged a card. BGS are harder then PSA, but the last PSA I did I think it took me about 45 seconds.. ha ha

Great decision! Cards in slabs look terrible in my opinion.
