The old core of Thornton & Marleau get one last kick at the can before being broken up in the offseason (one of them leaves town after this year, I bet). Vancouver gets yet another shot at winning that championship that has been so ellusive for them.

Not sure what to make of the goaltending in Vancouver. Will Corey Schnieder be ready to go in Game 1? If he's not, and Luongo wins a game or two before Schnieder is ready..... is this going to add to the goaltending controversy that has plauged this team for two years now?

Can easily see a scenario where Luongo wins game 1, but a (now) heathly Schnieder starts game 2 anyway.... get's torched, and then they go back to Bobby Lou for game 3, and get lit up again.

My bet - GM's ability to resolve the problem, and the coach doing something dumb with the goalies costs Vancouver here, and San Jose edges them in a 5 or 6 gamer.

Vancouver seems on a bit of a mission. While Thornton/Marleau is getting one last kick, the Canucks don't have much time left either, and patience is running out. While Vancouver had a bad record against San Jose this season, I do not think that speaks to how this series will turn out. Vancouver has gotten tougher without giving up speed. Once Schneider is back from his "injury" Tanev and Booth are the only players missing. Tanev is skating and will probably return before round 2 and let's be honest, Booth hasn't really played all season anyway. The Canucks power play got a huge boost with the return of Kesler and his return also brought the lines back to some normalcy. The Canucks have been forced to play a lot of makeshift lines this season and they've still found ways to win. When they have had healthy lines and D pairings, they've looked great. One thing I will say, I don't think this series, for Vancouver, is going to come down to how the Sedins and Burrows play. I think it's going to come down to how character guys like Hansen, Weise, Sestito. In fact, I think this whole playoffs is going to come down to that for Vancouver.

That said, San Jose isn't a pushover by any means. A hot Niemi can be the difference in every series. There's going to be a lot of hitting and, I fear, an injury or two. At the end of the day, fan or not, I just think Vancouver has the better team in this match-up, though it depends if they all show up.

    Vancouver Canucks - 4
    San Jose Sharks - 2

This is going to be a great series! And it definitely won't be easy for the winners... I'm going for Canucks in 6 or 7

Ok, series starts tomorrow. Sharks fans, I promise I won't hold anything against you once the series is done.

Figured I should just get that out of the way now.
