Fox News guest against a national day of reason? Compares Enlightenment to Holocaust?

The Enlightenment lead way to the holocaust?

There is no words for the utter stupidity.

BTW, if this stupid mentally ill woman had actually opened up a book, she would know that the Nazis (the people actually committing the atrocities) were majorly catholic.

"Gott Mit Uns" (God with us) is what they wore in their uniforms as they killed and tortured millions of people across Europe.

Also, I'm not saying they did those atrocities because of their religion, but the holocaust sure as hell did NOT occur due to the enlightenment.

Fox news...always good for a laugh. I feel like both sides are just trying to get publicity with their "day of _____"...and if your are truly a religious person, shouldn't EVERY day be a day of prayer? And if you are truly atheist should it even matter what the religious people think? i would think an atheist would be beyond caring about stuff like this. I know I am.

Here's the thing....."reason" is not an atheist thing.

    It's a human thing.

It's absurd for anyone to say they are against reason, a national day of reason to go along side the utter uselessness of prayer is actually a good idea.

Let me give you an example.

The Boston bombings.....right after that "Pray for Boston" became a big thing on twitter and other social networks.

But here's something better you can do....you can donate to the Red Cross, or give blood if you live in Boston.

Prayer is a comfort mechanism, it doesn't do anything.....if anything it only offers false hope.

I'd love to agree, but don't see the manner in which one prays making a difference. Prayer is useful as a self-calmer, but little else. Kind of like meditation.

Prayer to the devoted is similar to a sugar-pill placebo for the drug-seeking hypochondriac. Effective as can be in it's skillfulness to do nothing.
