Be sure to watch the replay of the Pens 5th goal. You will see Cooke and Dupuis on the Penalty Kill get a short handed goal. Cooke widely sweeps around the net and one-hand backhands a pass near the crease, Gonchar is supposed to be covering the only other Pen in the zone - Dupuis. Dupuis just takes one step and puts the slow pass into the open net, Gonchar still standing there bewildered.
They need to pay this guy out and get him out of the league once and for all.Last edited by centrehice; 05-22-2013 at 10:15 PM.

Dupuis should have been knocked on his arse. That goal is Gonchar's fault fully. Had he been paying attention, the play was an easy stick-check, as the puck was not passed crisply.

Haha!
Yes a solid offensive game for Pittsburgh. Very happy with the win and overall performance, but I have to say, our coverage in front of the net was not good. Badly need to tighten that up. If the Pens do indeed advance, Boston is much bigger and stronger up front, so if we let them settle in front, they will score. A lot.

I've lived this game my entire life. Countless games played on both outdoor and indoor rinks, Coaching, Refereeing, and it does not take a gifted person to realize that as talented as the Pens are on offense, the Sens have incredible moments of defensive lapses of duty.
McLean is doing it right however. The Sens just need another Methot, Cowen will also grow into one the best defensemen in the league. It appears this season especially, that the speed of the game has increased even from 2008-2009. The Defenseman that chooses to play his entire career like Brian Leetch or Sergei Gonchar will have egg on his face and not be marketable.
Defense still wins Stanley Cups, as the first thing you learn in Hockey whether you learned the game in 1911 or 2011, is to keep the puck out of your own net.

Pens move on, bring on the (most likely) Bruins.
