Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged" fantasizes a world in which anti-government citizens reject taxes and regulations, and "stop the motor" by withdrawing themselves from the system of production. In a perverse twist on the writer's theme the prediction is coming true. But instead of productive people rejecting taxes, rejected taxes are shutting down productive people.

    Interesting read...

That's kind of an eye opener, even if I already knew that was going on, those numbers are insane.

This is because of our tax code, it is 35% here, but way lower in other countries (ireland is around 12%) and we tax their profits earned abroad, other countries do not.

perhaps it is not them that's the greedy ones, but our tax code.

I can agree with you. The tax code was not designed to be fair but to place an unfair burden on the working man while the rich keep getting richer.

correct, and if we lowered our tax rate, these companies would stay, we would be collecting more taxes and have more people employed, 35% is just plain crazy.

So we should be looking to Ireland for ways to stabilize the economy here?

Jay maybe you should be some research. that 35% is the top rate. The Corp tax is stepped tax rates. The system is hard to understand is the biggest issue. However, when GE, Verizon and Facebook all had a 0% rate or negative tax liabilities.
