Gideon bibles are place in hotel rooms in the hope that they will be stolen by the troubled individual that picks one of them up. The program was actually designed for this reason.

Why does anyone feel the need to have to leave their book in a hotel room or park? Why not just have a library on site and let the guest have access to read whatever they like.

What's wrong with leaving a Bible in the hopes it will be taken?

It has never bothered me that the Gideons leave bibles in hotel rooms which are private businesses. What I have a problem with is state parks having bibles available but if a muslim group wanted to provide free Korans in state parks we all know that would never happen.

Fair point, but that's not on Christians, that's on American culture.

On a side note, anyone here ever seen the Hitchcock movie version of Steinbeck's Life Boat? I watched it for the first time last night. Really interesting watch...
