Thumbs up How many boxes of a product are typically produced?

I know proset was a little over the top lol. Also I read somewhere that iirc it was topps Tiffany where only a couple hundred cases were produced I think. I might be wrong... I usually am. So does anyone have an answer to my question?

I've thought about this question as well. This information is not released to the public. I think there is a way to calculate quite accurately how much The Cup is produced. Every tin of The Cup has 1 RPA, sometimes 2 but not very often, not often enough for this method to calculate the total amount produced to be totally inaccurate.

I was thinking to figure out how much Cup is produced is to multiply the total number of different RPA's #'d to 249 by 249, same thing for the RPA's #'d to 99 and that should give us a fairly accurate represenation of how much The Cup was made. I'm going to try it.

    There are 66 RPA's #'d to 249: 66*249=16,434
    There are 6 RPA's #'d to 99: 6*99=594

A total of 17,028 RPA's produced for 11/12 The Cup. Divide by 6 gives us exactly 2838 cases of The Cup produced. I don't know if this theory works or not, maybe some smarter people might have something to add!
If you can't be bothered listing your cards on Ebay, don't want to pay the high fees, deal with the lousy buyers, then sell your cards to me.

your math seems sound to me, but does not take into account the boxes with multiple arps's seen a couple with 3 arps /249 and also some with no arp's.

Ya I mentioned that in my hypothesis, I don't think it happens very often. Chances are good to make up for those occurrences the total number of cases produced could be 2800.

They probably release a lot, then keep making them that whole year, so it's hard to say

Fortunately the days of "second printings" of products are a thing of the past.

With the volume of releases that each company produces, there's no time or resources to be constantly printing out new "waves" of individual products. That stuff costs money, and while they do have their own production facilities, it's a pretty costly process, not to mention having to dedicate people to collating insert ratios, procuring new batches of autographs, etc.

    ---------------------

Obviously, each product out there will have varying print runs. High-end items like Prime, Ultimate Memorabilia, The Cup, etc. will be on a more limited basis - every card is serial-numbered and that has allowed some of our more mathematically inclined friends to calculate just how much of a product is out there. For some of its super-premium products (Superlative Bleu Blanc Rouge, as an example) ITG will state that "only xxx books are being produced" of the release.

Usually, companies will use cases as their guideline for production moreso than boxes.

Topps and Bowman Tiffany from 1990-91 only 400 Cases of each produced.

I think that the UD Stanley Cup Champs Issue from 2001-02 there were only about 300 cases or less produced. They are like Hen's Teeth to find the Base cards.
