I agree, "Dud". No way this comes out in the $80-$100 price range. It states, "20 pack box". This stuff will cost you $200/box and just like that, it's dead in the water. I'm glad collectors are giving sticker auto's the short end of the stick.

Blowout has them pre-ordering at $90 so it should actually be a decent break for the price.

That is good to hear. Sounds like Prizm is replacing Certified and Certified went for more than $100 a box for only 10 packs compared to the 20 in Prizm. I really liked Certified but Prizm might end up being a better product!?!?!

Hey, if you can actually get 20 packs for $90, then it does sound like a decent deal. To me though, its a non-entity as it looks like sticker autos. But for other collectors, that does sound like a decent price point.

Agreed, and Certified had all stickers autos as well (other than the 10-11 RC Autos, I think all of the others are stickers, someone can correct me if I'm wrong). And the Prizm parallels are more appealing than the Certified ones, so with double the packs at around $100 per box, sounds like a pretty sweet break. I just hope Callahan is in the base set, definitely a parallel I wouldn't mind chasing

I normally avoid most sticker autos but I love what Panini has done with Prizm in other sports. If Gaborik is on the auto checklist, sticker or otherwise, I will go ape.

Prizm worked for their basketball line so now they are trying to push it on baseball and hockey collectors. Wrong move. This stuff is going to fall flat imo. Hockey collectors aren't as into shiny foil chrome cards as basketball hobbyists, more "refined" collectors ;)

I like shiny foil chrome cards!
For the past 3 years Certified has been my favourite product.
Before that, I really liked the "metal" cards that were in OPC as a parallel.
Was never into UD's Black Diamond for some reason.

I have seen a few Prizm cards though and have to admit that I do not get the whole "wow" factor about them.
Can someone please explain what makes this "Prizm Technology" different from other shiny foil cards?

Was never into UD's Black Diamond for some reason.

I have seen a few Prizm cards though and have to admit that I do not get the whole "wow" factor about them.
Can someone please explain what makes this "Prizm Technology" different from other shiny foil cards?

I'm not sure about the technology but they kind of feel like those 96-97 Select cards with the plastic feel to them.

In baseball, you get 24 packs of Topps Chrome for $65 and, if memory serves, those are hard-signed autos... I understand that it's not easy to jump across sports, but I'm failing to see what makes Prizm $35 more special (based on the MSRP of $100 - not Blowout's price)...

I agree with you. Prizm has done well in basketball and football, but not nearly as well as Topps Chrome did in football last year. Hockey card collectors definitely want something different, but catering to a price point rather than the actual value of the cards won't work. 2 sticker autos and 2-3 (probably only 1 numbered) parallel per box is brutal for a retail price of $100. Remember, too, that the auto checklist is 200 cards with 100 of them being 12-13 RCs (no 13-14 RCs which will wait for Rookie Anthology). The week after Prizm releases, Artifacts hits at the same price point - auto, parallels, 12-13 RCs, 13-14 RC Redemptions, & game-used. Sure, it's only a 10-pack box, but will the Prizm base be worth that much more?

I LOVE shiny foil chrome cards. I also know what they are worth to me and other collectors. Lots of people point to the big sales of Prizm golds in basketball - Kobe's team USA /10 went for almost $1500. It doesn't translate. The pre-Prizm released in 12-13 with Anthology saw a Crosby /10 go for under $200 and two Ovechkins in the same neighborhood. I really wanted to love this product, but at $100/box with a diluted base checklist (200 'veterans' and 100 12-13 RCs), a diluted auto checklist (100 'veterans' and 100 12-13 RCs), and only 2-3 parallels... I'm just not seeing why you don't wait for the secondary market or box prices to fall. This product is going to rely on the base RCs being 'valuable' and they have about the same insertion rate as OPC (at $60/box). Yakupov and Galchenyuk are leading the way in OPC at $5-10 right now which usually falls off to $3-6 once another product releases...

I hate to be negative before a product releases and I really hope I'm wrong, but I've busted A LOT of products that leave me with a pile of 95 base, 20 RCs, 2 sticker autos and 2-3 parallels worth A LOT less than the $100 'buy-in'...
