    2013-14 SCF Regular Season Pool - Sponsored by Players Choice Sports!

    Welcome to the 2013-14 SCF Regular Season Pool, sponsored by Players Choice Sports!

    Sports Card Forum and our friends and sponsors at Players Choice Sports have teamed up to present the 2013-14 SCF Regular Season Pool. This is not going to be your standard “pick 18 guys, make some mid-season adjustments, hope for the best” hockey pool. This year’s edition is going to feature more engagement, more surprises, and more activities than in any year we’ve run this contest before. And because of that, the prizes are going to be bigger too!

    Players Choice has provided us with a number of fantastic items to be given to our great members who participate in this season-long contest. For our grand prizes, we have received two boxes of 2013-14 Upper Deck Series 1 – this immensely popular product features the first live rookie cards of both parts of the Double Rookie Class: the players who debuted during the 2013 season as well as the members of the 2013 Draft Class that started the 2013-14 campaign. Featuring such Young Guns as Alex Galchenyuk, Nail Yakupov, Nathan MacKinnon, and more, this product is going to be in tremendous demand for years to come. Both of the top two participants in this contest will each receive one box of 2013-14 Upper Deck Series 1!

    This is going to be the biggest & best edition of the Regular Season Pool that we have organized to date!

    The Pool

    Each participant will assemble a team comprised of 22 players. The team will include at least:

    • 12 Forwards
    • 6 Defencemen
    • 2 Goalies

    With your additional two spots, you will select a third goaltender and one additional skater. It can be a forward or a defenceman, your choice.

    Your roster must include at least two members of the 2013-14 Double Rookie Class. This means that to start the season, your team must have two players that debuted in the 2013 lockout season. You can adjust your DRC compliance rule to include a player making his NHL debut in this season at any time after they have made their NHL debut. It will not count toward your monthly trade cap (see below) when you make this initial trade.

    Your roster must be compliant with the same salary cap that NHL general managers have to work with for the 2013-14 regular season: an upper limit of $64.3M. You must therefore choose your roster wisely and try to get the most bang for your buck with your players. This total includes your Double Rookie Class compliance requirement.

    To get a full list of 2013-14 salary cap figures, visit www.capgeek.com (you can also use their handy fantasy calculator: http://capgeek.com/fantasy-calculator/ ) – when you list your roster, you must include the player’s cap hit with their name. Entries submitted without a salary cap accounting will not be accepted.

    You are allowed to make a maximum of one roster change per month. This is to cover both injuries and poor performance that can occur during a full 82-game schedule. Only one each month, though, so be sure to choose wisely. Remember, your initial DRC compliance trade does not count towards your monthly cap, but any trades made after that involving DRC players will be counted as your monthly roster change. To make a roster move, please PM RGM81 indicating which player you would like to drop and which player you would like to add in his place. Make sure that your roster trade keeps you salary cap compliant or it will not be permitted!

    There is no maximum players-per-team rule for this year’s pool.

    Scoring

    We are using several scoring categories, 6 for skaters and 4 for goalies. 3 of these categories include negative points: +/- can result in a loss of points if your player is in the negative, and while your goalies earn 5 points for each win, they lose 2 points for each regulation loss and 1 point for an OT loss. Choose wisely!

    The points scale is as follows:

    Skaters:
    Goals = 2pt
    Assists = 1pt
    Game Winning Goals = 5pts
    Power Play Goals = 2pts
    Short Handed Goals = 2pts
    +/- = 1pt

    Goalies
    Win = 5pts
    Shutout = 5pts
    Loss = -2pts
    OT Loss = -1pt

    Tracking Your Progress

    As usual, we are running this pool through the 100% free onlinepools.com – to track the progress of your team and the standings, visit their website and enter the following information:

    • Login: 175627
    • Password: trader

    Bonus Material and Extra Ways to Score!

    Like we said above, this is not going to be just a standard pool. During the course of the season we are going to unveil a number of side contests designed to let you boost your score, enhance your chances to win, and win additional prizes! Look for the following opportunities and challenges to arise throughout the year:

    • NHL Player of the Month Bonus – if a player on your roster earns the NHL’s 1st Star of the Month (as seen on NHL.com) you will receive an extra 25 points!*
    • Salary Cap Cushion – look for trivia and other challenges to add up to an extra $1M in cap space to your 22-man roster, allowing you to upgrade your team!
    • Double Rookie Class Rewards – post your hits of Double Rookie Class rookie cards of players on your roster to earn an extra 20 points!**
    • GM of the Month – monthly pool leaders will receive 1,500CC that they can use towards purchases from the SCF Card Cash Store!
    • Show & Tell Your Roster – post pictures of your team in Upper Deck cards to win a great prize from Upper Deck!***
    • And more surprises to come!

    The Rules

    All SCF Members in good standing, including the SCF Staff, are eligible to participate in this season-long contest.

    One entry per member. Multiple entries will not be accepted.

    During the course of the season you must successfully complete a minimum of 1 trade per month at SCF. Trades are to be posted in the thread upon completion. This applies to trades initiated between October 1st and the end of the regular season. This includes buying and selling. Any SCF Trade Manager transaction is eligible. We will be monitoring this throughout the season - we want to ensure that you are active on SCF!

    Any Infractions or Negative Trade Feedback received during the contest will result in an automatic disqualification from the contest.

    The two members with the most total points at the end of the regular season shall be declared the winners of the contest, and each will receive one box of 2013-14 Upper Deck Series 1.

    In the event that top players are tied in total points, we will use total goals scored as the first tie-breaker to determine their placement in the final standings and the appropriate prize. If that is insufficient, the player with the individual goaltender with the most wins out of the six on the rosters will be the winner.

    All entries must be submitted by October 1st at 12pm EDT. Late entries will not be accepted. All roster selections MUST be PM'd to RGM81 or emailed to him at [email protected]. Remember to include your salary cap accounting!

    A maximum of one roster move per month will be allowed (but is not mandatory) per participant during the course of the season. To make a roster move, please PM RGM81 indicating which player you would like to drop and which player you would like to add in his place. Make sure that your roster remains salary cap compliant.

    SCF Staff reserve the right to add, edit, or remove any bonus content to the pool at their sole discretion.

    * Player must have been on your roster for a minimum of 15 days. This is to ensure that people are not making end-of-month acquisitions for the purpose of getting a hot player on the lineup for the points bonus.
    ** You must post a scan that shows your SCF user name, and the card must be a true RC from an Upper Deck product released during the course of the season. This means that 12-13 Artifacts Redeemed Rookies and 13-14 O-Pee-Chee rookie cards are not eligible for the points bonus. You can post up to 5 different RC's you obtain--cards can be pack-pulled or obtained via trade at your LCS, SCF, or another community--for a maximum of 100 bonus points.
    *** A contest page with full rules and terms will be posted during the season.

    Thank you for participating in another excellent SCF Contest! And a huge THANK YOU to our friends at Players Choice Sports for sponsoring this fantastic contest!
