it hilarious to sit back and watch you guys fight.
if you deem someone wrong you automatically jump on them and ride them with your augmented facts and claim they are a horrible person, no one views everything the same as yourself, chill out.

You are creating a false dichotomy. Just because a Christian may object to homosexual activity on Biblical grounds does not necessarily mean that they want to discriminate against them, hate them, fear them, think they are evil, think they are immoral, etc. I know logic usually escapes you in arguments on this board, but think this one through for a change. There is a middle ground.

Logic escapes me?
That's funny and ironic.
OK, so I'm creating a false dichotomy huh?
Let's see.....you're saying that some people are able to think homosexuality is bad (because a book tells them it's bad) but they can do this without being fearful of it, hating them, thinking it's evil or immoral?
So why exactly do think it's bad then?
In the example I made, I said that in the times of slavery, many southerners would use the bible in order to justify doing horrible things to slaves.....do you see how wrong that was?
In today's modern times, far right christians are using the bible to say homosexuality is wrong even though there is nothing inherently wrong with homosexuality.....do you also see how wrong that is?
Let me explain further.....when a christian says "Adultery is wrong"....they are justified in this claim.
Adultery DOES HURT humans....it hurts the spouse that is being cheated on, it hurts the kids if there are any in the marriage.....so I have no problems when a christian says adultery is immoral and wrong or evil.
When they say "homosexuality is wrong".....where is the justification for this claim? They don't have ANY justification at all....not one single iota.
If you can give me ONE....just ONE good reason why homosexuality is wrong...then I will concede the point to you.
And no, you can't say "It's wrong because my religion says it's wrong".
The OT says slavery is OK....when it clearly is NOT Ok....so you can't use the bible to say what is right and wrong.

im not religious at all ,yet i think its wrong.......because its just not right...its wrong. you dont have to be religious to see that its wrong or "not right" its just not normal.
the sole purpose for sex is reproduction...two male ...parts ..smacking each other cant reproduce...just saying...same goes for the opposite sex.

I'll just add my 2 cents.
Catholics HATE homosexuality because they believe (at least the higher ups) that sex is for procreation only.
I'm a Catholic who could care less what homos do in their bedroom, just like I would think they care less about what I do in mine.
As a human, I could care less what a celebrity says about anything. Conservative or Liberal. They are paid to ACT.

The SOLE purpose for sex is reproduction?
Are you serious?
So....humans can't have sex for fun and pleasure?
Lol.
There's so much that is wrong with that statement.
Furthermore, I guess that it's also "not normal" if a straight couple has sex and one of them is sterilized, right?
I guess it's also "not normal" if a straight couple is simply unable to have kids for some unexplained reason, even if they really want to have kids....right?
Your "sex is only for reproduction" argument is simply illogical.
Lastly, two gay males don't have sex the way your are describing.
The overwhelming majority of human beings have sex for fun and pleasure the majority of the time.
And I'm glad that you don't care what other human beings do in the privacy of their bedroom.
I think it's utterly creepy that religious institutions try to control the sex lives of their members.....seriously that is so creepy and weird.

In the times of slavery in the U.S, it was obvious that what many Southerners were doing was HORRIBLE and an UTTER DISGRACE to humanity.
So, how were they able to compensate?
Simple....they went to the bible and said that since the bible endorsed religion, they thought it was perfectly fine.
This is FACT.
They hid under the disguise of "religious beliefs" so they could have slaves and mistreat them in the most horrific ways possible.
What Far right Christians are doing is nothing different.
you forgot the other side of this, whom, even Lincoln himself, used the Bible as to why we needed to rid slavery.
and if you want to only concentrate on the "crazies" of Christianity, fine, but an idiot who talks crap is far less scary than those who are killing, imprisoning, and worse, rather than just answering a simple question.
people are dumb from all walks of life, no two ways about it.
my issue, is everytime you have an issue with the "crazies" you throw the Bible into it and not in a good way.

obviously i was joking with that statement.
but, fun and pleasure is'nt always right......some people kill others for fun and pleasure...is that ok?.....get my jest?
what makes my statement illogical? because you think so?
thats the whole liberal sides of thinking....."how dare you not have the same thoughts as we do! your wrong, and evil, and afraid because you think differently"..but wait...by you accepting the exclusions...your are excluding the otherside that thinks differently..its a vicious circle of bullcrap..smh.Last edited by shrewsbury; 12-26-2013 at 01:04 AM. You really have a hard time staying on point, don't you? Do you know what a false dichotomy is? It's when you, in a debate, falsely present that there are only two sides to an issue, when there is at least a third option. I don't have to agree with you, but I also don't have to satisfy your false premise in disagreement. Again, just because someone engages in an immoral act does not necessarily mean that person himself is immoral or is a bad person. Why I think it is wrong, or what the Bible's justification for saying that it is wrong, is irrelevant to the point I a making. I am just establishing that I (and I'd say most modern Christians), believe the act is sinful, but at the same time recognize that everyone sins and do not judge the hearts of others who engage in sinful behavior.

this
my family are Christians yet i have some gay cousins...they dont hate them and hope they die..they just recognize they do stuff they dont agree with and thats about it, they dont treat them any differently...this left agenda of making people out to be monsters when they disapprove with people being gay is ridiculous
