Need Help sending the TTM

I use a 10 1/2x16 in bubble mailer with a 8x10 photo in it with a 8x11 SASE. I ran it through the do it yourself scanner at the post office and the postage came out as 2.45. I put 5 stamps on the bubble mailer and sent it, but got it back the next day. It says I didn't put enough postage on it and needed 95 more cents. How many stamps should i put on the bubble mailer next time? Should I just bring it to the front desk next time and pay postage there?
