New Guy from Arlington, TX
Howdy! My name is John and I just joined. I've been collecting off and on for 25 to 30 years but have really cut back over the last year (OCD+waaaaaaay too many parallels and inserts = no money & an angry wife).
I had been working on the most complete collection of former TCU Horned Frog athletes and managed to get about 75% of all the known cards through 2012/13 (currently, the collection sits at about 6000) before I gave up because Andy Dalton and Matt Carpenter were killing me.
Now, I'm focusing on a couple of smaller collections that are a lot more finite and have a better chance of actually achieving completion.
Pete Incaviglia (for no good reason... just some really stupid nostalgia): missing about 23 (out of 319) cards
Then I'm working on my set of players that graduated from my high school, Martin, in Arlington, TX:
Matt Blank (need 5 cards)
Sean Duncan (1 card)
John "Johnny" Hunter (1 card)
J.D. "Brandon" Roberts (2 cards)
Todd Van Poppel (12 cards)
Boone Stutz (the only pro football player they've ever had) (1 card)
Also, Ben Grieve, Brian Ragira, & Nathan Karns, but I waiting to really go after those until after I've finished off the smaller player sets
So anyway, I finally decided to try some networking. Virtually all of the cards I need are minor league, low production serial numbered, or SGA and my constant vigilance on eBay, Beckett, COMC, etc., isn't turning up much at this point. Looking forward to possibly trading or buying from folks on here!
