Happy to be here (SEKY) (Warning: I TYPE A LOT)

    Hi all!

I've always been more of a fan of breaking packs and selling/trading away the contents than collecting for myself, but over the Memorial Day weekend I had a lot of time to kill while running the BBQ smoker and found myself watching case/box breaks on Youtube, followed by watching livebreaks on different stream sites. It's definitely a great way to waste about 12+ hours a day! I've been out of the hobby for a very long time, and I'm just now starting to think about collecting in addition to just being a guy with cards people might want(even though my current inventory is basically 0, haha).

I expect that if I'm going to get back into fiddling around with these awesome pieces of cardboard I might want to ingratiate myself into the community, and I remembered this website from when I was spending all my disposable income on cards around a decade ago(I wish I could remember my username from back then, but that was two computers ago). I'm happy to see that this place has only evolved in my absence. I don't have access to my old e-mail address anymore but I remember getting an automated SCF e-mail on my birthday every year!

When it comes to cards I'm a pretty flexible guy. I might be more concerned with collecting all of the Parks & Recreation autographs than some of you are with Durants, Trouts, Manziels, etc. I'm a pretty chill guy(interpret that however you want), and if I have it you can pretty much bet it's up for trade/sale. I live about half a mile away from a nice smallish post office so I can definitely see myself getting into trading once I start building up an inventory.

As far as sports go? I love the NFL, I like the NBA(I want to love it, but I'm waiting), and I don't watch baseball(yet). I like UFC and love pro wrestling way, way too much(Stockholm Syndrome).
As far as cards go? I love the NBA, I think MLB has the best-looking and most collectible cards by a looooooooooooooooooong country mile, and I like NFL even though there's a ton of chaff.

I picked a favorite MLB player today because I wanted someone from MLB I could 'collect' for trading purposes. that player is Hyun-Jin Ryu. I chose him and then realized I'd be competing with both Dodgers fans and S. Korean fans, but competition is half of the fun, right?(Oh I hope I'm right)

Living somewhere without a local team growing up I've always had the luxury of just picking players I like and rooting for their team(as I did for many years with Charles Barkley) or just rooting for whoever is on my fantasy team. My fiance and I are moving to western Washington within the next couple of years, and if/when Seattle gets another shot an an NBA team I will be very happy(and probably just collect Trailblazers until then).

Anyway, that's me, hope I didn't bore you, be glad to answer any Q's, and really just happy to be here.

edit: also, uhh, I'm a bit of a night owl. so I will probably show up on the board any random time of day or night

Hey Dave! Welcome to SCF. Good luck finding some nice Ryu cards. You can check out our inventory manager-- they have a great player collector feature that helps you track all of the ones you have and need of a certain player!
