Selanne signs prolifically in person, I think he may just prefer to avoid having his auto become a commodity.

The story with a lot of players, is that they don't like being stiffed by UD. There's been stories for years that players either don't get paid at all, or get paid really late. This leads to them refusing to work with UD. Selanne, Forsberg, Sakic, Sundin, I remember reading rumors that all those guys had stopped working with them for that reason.... though the other three have all been talked back into it in recent years.

UD has trouble paying the bills. I'd say those guys that recently started signing for them again likely asked for the money up front before picking up a pen.
