14-15 will be a very slow year for me. I'm curious about the Light FX parallels from MVP and the ticket inserts from Ultra, but I'll be mosty ITG and older discounted wax.

I am guessing that Panini boxes and cases will drop in price quite significantly.

Supposedly that's part of the reason that UD is kinda "starting light" with their 14-15 stuff - remember that last year they started out with a high-end release with Trilogy. They want to get the new stuff out on the market but they also want to let the leftover Panini stuff run its course.

How about no more cards of players who left for the KHL a couple of years ago. That would be a good start.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

Most Excited: Having 37 different sets of cards with only 50 current players in them (using only two different photos each), and filling out the sets with 49 retired players (47 of whom I never saw play), and trying to collect all 157 variations of each of the cards of my favorite player (who will only be in 5 of the sets).
Positives:
1. Higher prices and less selection!
2. Being able to spend my whole paycheck on a "box" of cards that has only one pack and four cards in it!
3. The disappearance of all those "junk" commons of the players I actually watch and root for.
4. Buying a box of "new" cards and pulling more retired players than current players. There just aren't ENOUGH Eric Lindros and Rogie Vachon cards out there. We need MORE!!!

I'm hoping beyond hope that UD does some cool/innovative/really good looking cards in the next few years. I'm sure it's a patented technology, but a Chrome-like card with refractors would be nice to see again, or something like Panini did with TC and the colored foil variants - I absolutely love the look of those foil jersey auto cards!! I've always like their 1995-and-later hologram cards and HoloFX stuff, but don't want them to just re-hash old designs and whatnot - make it new and exciting and fresh.
I'm also already in favor of an all-acetate set, or the idea of an acetate insert set that runs across a couple of product lines (but not across price ranges). Oh, and a continuance of the acetate Young Guns - that was a master stroke on their part!
I'd also like box prices to come back down to Earth, so younger collectors and/or their parents can afford to collect something other than lowly MVP and Series 1 & 2 each year.

I don't know. I was not a fan of Panini and until this year, I had absolutely horrid luck with their boxes (in contrast, I usually have just bad luck with Upper Deck product). But during this shared license period, I do not think UD rose up to the challenge; I thought they got worse and I even skipped SP Authentic this year, opting for more Panini boxes than I had since Year One of the shared license. Most of my 13/14 Sabres rookies have come from Panini products, mostly as singles.
With all of the lower end stuff UD is releasing, I am hopeful there will be a little more focus on the middle tier stuff, especially the designs. I think that is where Panini had an advantage over UD.
