Not quite- there are countless people who label themselves as straight when they really know they are not, but do it to shield themselves from the hatred that would possibly be thrown their way. Even in anonymous surveys, they will declare themselves as 'straight' as that is the way the public sees them (at the moment, until if/when they decide to come out).

Self identity is way different. Like, for instance, a person can publicly identify as non racist, but still actually be a racist and know it.

The simple term for it is " lying" but the real explanation is public and self identities are two different things.
