The Numbers Game - What Are Your PC Stats in the Panini/UD Era?

Another fun discussion topic as we near the end of the line for Panini.

With all the back-and-forth that we see about which company is better, who makes the best cards, etc., let's see where some folks have put their hobby dollars in the past four years. What are your numbers, if you have them, for your PC's from 2010-11 to present? Feel free to be as detailed as you like.

For me, I was a little surprised to see exactly how heavily my collecting in the past few years has leaned towards one company over the others. But that said, when I look at the cards I have I can't say that I blame myself! LOL

    Carey Price
    Panini - 65
    Upper Deck - 54
    In The Game - 35

    Josh Gorges
    Panini - 48
    Upper Deck - 63
    In The Game - 2

    Brendan Gallagher
    Upper Deck - 20
    Panini - 15

    Alex Galchenyuk
    Panini - 16
    Upper Deck - 18

When it comes to Gorges, that's all decided on what is out there. Haha UD made more stuff so I got more of them.

But of that big bundle of cards, which ones are the best? Now that's perhaps a different story for a different thread. Likely a show & tell.

I'll say this much - I've certainly enjoyed many of the offerings from all three companies over the past few years. There have been some spectacular cards made and we as collectors have had an amazing opportunity to get our hands on them.
Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

Not sure, probably about even but probably due to buying a lot of Series 1 product.

Have only ONE ITG card I think.

Not including sets... which I collect master sets of only ITG and just base + rookies + maybe a rookie subset or two of Upper Deck or Panini.

Most of my Red Wings cards are Upper Deck. I remember pulling a sweet insert of Stevie Y when I was young from Pacific, it has been in a screw-case the whole time. Almost 16 years now.

Roughly.. as far as PC cards I chase and currently own... 65% Upper Deck, 30% ITG and 5% Panini. A lot of those are just regular set RC's of Red Wings, so that balance could very well sway in that regard. One company releases 25 RCs of someone another company releases 0... y'know what I mean? :P

In terms of Value its more like 47% UD 47% ITG and 6% Panini. (Sorry to Panini you have awesome cards out there I just haven't had the luxury of chasing yet. I do own the complete set with /99 rookies of 11-12 Elite :P)

Oh forgot about Pacific! I own some pacific cards worth maybe 3-4% of everything I own.

Without a precise count - i would say for my Predators -
    55 % UD
    30 % Panini
    14 % Pacific
    1 % ITG

I included my guess on Pacific as I have got a ton of their stuff from way back when - started the PC back in the late 90`s but then went on hiatus about spring of 2002 or so and re-started the Fall of 2009 - then joined here ( best move ever ) in Jan. of 2010 .

Looks like I have leaned towards Panini, but not by design. Panini was the only company to include Zubrus cards and they were limited to Score and Prism (13 cards in 13-14 Prism alone!).

My Kovalchuk purchases have been pretty even, although I have focused on Artifacts.

The ITG cards (Eric Lindros, Craig Berube and Dave Brown) are the most painful because 90% of them are limited to print runs of less than 30!

Interesting topic! On my spreadsheet (this is everything that's produced, not just what I have, although I have virtually everything that's not 1/1 from UD and ITG, but need a few dozen Panini carsd)...

ITG: 110 regular cards with 42 parallels
ITG 1/1's: 89 (77 of them are parallels)

UD: 248 regular cards with 299 parallels
UD 1/1's: 42 (38 of them are parallels)

Panini: 250 regular cards with 520 parallels
Panini 1/1's: 127 (108 of them are parallels)

So when it comes to regular non 1/1 cards, it's 41% each Panini and UD, then 18% ITG for the Sedins...
But for non 1/1 parallels, it's 60% Panini, 35% UD, and 5% ITG.

Needless to say, I'm pretty fatigued of parallels (especially jersey, prime, patch, jersey/auto, prime/auto, patch/auto versions of everything), it's been fun collecting the Sedins for almost exactly 15 years now, but boy has the landscape changed since the collection started. I'm hoping for the last few years of their careers that I'll have a much more manageable list of stuff to chase, and be able to take more time to just enjoy the cards.

Interesting question.... Keep in mind I collect EVERYTHING Ranford. Base, parallels, 1/1s, whatever I can get my hands on.

There's a bit of a variety on how to exactly put together a checklist like this, so here's what I did. I did not include show stamped cards that are parallels of other cards (either in my "have" or "missing" count). Press Plates all counted as 4 1/1s, same with Letters off Jerseys (7 1/1s or 14 1/1s, depending on the set). If it was a show issued (or promotional) card that is unique to anything else (i.e. not found in products. Priority Signings, Masked Men Memoribilia, etc) I did count them. The reason I used these: Checklists are available. For the 1/1 show stamped parallels, it's sketchy what's actually available.... so I left them off.

    What I have:
    Upper Deck: 103 + 5 1/1s
    ITG: 75 + 20 1/1s
    Panini: 15

    What I still need:
    Upper Deck: 3 + 10 1/1s
    ITG: 6 + 32 1/1s
    Panini: 1 + 5 1/1s

All the card I'm missing are very low numbered, even if they're not 1/1s (talking about stuff with 10 or less copies). I've got more UD than anyone else, but that's a reflection of Upper Deck making the most Ranford stuff over the last 5 years - though it's close. Upper Deck, if I went through it, the numbers are inflated by more parallels than ITG has. I would bet that there are about 30% more "unique" looking cards in the ITG stuff over that period.
