Chick-Fil-A Is Closing. And When You Find Out Why You'll Be Glad.

A Georgia town was grieving the loss of one of their own, a heroic Police Officer, Kevin Jordan. He was shot in his back five times while making an arrest at a local Waffle House. Officer Jordan was Army veteran, and a loving father to seven children.Officers from every corner of the state Georgia joined with local residents to honor their fallen solider. The funeral precession was going to pass the local Chic-Fil-A, so this is what they did—they placed a notice at their drive through to notify customers that they will be closing in honor of the faithful serviceman Officer Jordan. This is a measure that the local chicken restaurant didn’t have to take – but they did. What a great way to honor those that serve and protect.

I'm unsure how classy it is to host a funeral for publicity.

It was classy that they honored a man who stood for good.

And weren't afraid to let everyone know. This is guerrilla advertising to the extreme. If they really wanted to honour him, why turn it into a "look how nice we are"?

I'm not saying it's bad, just that classy kind of ignores the fact they are using it to profit. Ad space is expensive and the free press they're getting makes it more than worth shutting down for one day.

A valid point but still a good gesture with motives.

Yes you are certainly correct! How profitable it was to advertise (on their drive thru) that they will be closed while a funeral procession was taking place. WTG Chik-Fil-A

Yes. That's why I know about it. Because I went through that drive thru.

Or maybe a PR guy planted a story for rah rah conservatives to rally around. Again, not a bad thing, but it's not just about honouring him either. It's about getting paid.

Dude, that's a pretty cynical viewpoint. I've seen local non-chain businesses do the same thing. Chick-Fil-A gives local managers a lot of power, and my guess is that it was the local manager's idea to do this, and the higher brass just gave the go-ahead.
