Arrests Made in Connection With Derek Boogaard Death

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Arrests have been made in connection with the overdose death of New York Rangers player Derek Boogaard Boogaard died in his brother's Minneapolis apartment on May 13, 2011 of a drug and alcohol overdose.

Jordan Hart, the son of New York Islanders legend Gerry Hart, was arrested on Long Island Tuesday morning by the DEA's New York drug enforcement task force. He was expected to face a judge in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday afternoon.

An indictment claims that Hart was supplying Boogaard, a former Rangers' enforcer, with the prescription painkillers that killed him.

Also arrested was Oscar Johnson, a physician's assistant in Utah. He is accused of writing bogus Percocet prescriptions for Jordan Hart on nearly a monthly basis for two years, totaling nearly 3,000 pills. Johnson was expected to face a federal judge in Salt Lake City on Tuesday afternoon.

Good to hear even if it is a three years since Derek Boogaard passed away.

Glad to see they were still investigating it, and finally made some arrests. Hopefully this can bring closure the family desperately wants.
