Could Buffalo be Considered as a World Cup of Hockey Host?
The World Cup of Hockey will be returning. After a ten-year absence, the tournament will officially return in 2016. Per Pierre LeBrun’s report, it’s simply a matter of ironing out the final details of the agreement before making a formal announcement.
Re-instituting the World Cup could mean any number of things with some wondering if it means the league is bracing for a divorce from Olympic participation. Further, the timing of the tournament itself will likely fall prior to the regular season, which should ensure full participation of the world’s best players.

living in Buffalo over the last 3 years and working in Downtown near the FNC, there has been more changes and development since Pegula arrived than in the other 35 years of my life. With that said, Buffalo will ultimately get another World Junior Tourney, a Frozen Four and host other hockey tourneys.
I'm not sure if Buffalo would be a WC of Hockey host city however

Let's hope!
It's an American market, where you can take use of Canadian fans (and my impression has always been that other than USA stuff.... when it comes to international hockey, you'll need to).
I would assume you could schedule some games in big markets like New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia - and of course Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver - but Buffalo gives you the luxury of selling seats to that Finland vs Slovakia game, while still being in an American city.
