Question for NT Printing Plate collectors
I like having all these plates available. More plates of the same player allows more collector's to get in on it.
Recently I saw two plates for the same player / card. I placed starting bids with the eagerness of completing 50% of the rainbow in one fell swoop.
As it turns out, I forgot about the auctions ending and did not go back to raise my bids. I was outbid on the cyan plate, but was surprised to see that I had won the black plate which only got one bid (mine)
Question is: Why bid on only one plate when there are two available for less than $5 each?
I'm sure people might want a single plate and have no desire to complete the full set of four, but when both are up at the same time and for so little $$$. I am flummoxed.
How many of you plate collectors out there stop at one plate and would not try to land a second or third if it were available?Hidden Content

I think the issue is there not be that many "plate collectors". I'm thinking of grabbing one or two, but I don't need several from the same card/player. $5 or not, I'm just not that interested in grabbing multiples. Others probably have the same mentality.

I'm not huge on plate collecting, but for my dubnyk pc, I will try and obtain them. Until national treasures was handing out player "sets", I have never been able to complete the rainbow. Either they don't pop up or sellers want 10x the value. But given the chance to obtain any of them, especially if cheap is a no brainer for me. That's my stand point as a specific player collector.

Heh, I certainly am not one of those people who'd only pick up one... I've probably picked up 50 or so printing plates of the Sedins from National Treasures and am sure to be adding even more to that count :)
I do know one of the local 'nucks collectors likes to for example put together the UD team set each year including exclusives, HG, and some years even does 1 plate from each player so who knows, maybe the other bidder is doing some sort of set like that?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

From what I can tell, most people prefer the Black or Cyan Plates as they tend to look closer to the "real" printed cards. I hate the yellow plates, though I would pick them up for the right price or to complete a set. I have (or have in the mail) over 20 Taylor Hall plates with 0 complete sets. the closest is the 13-14 Rookie Anthology base card- just need the...wait for it......yellow plate. I prefer Black, then Cyan, then Magenta and lastly Yellow. I base my preference on the look of the card- would love to get the set of Taylor Hall from 13-14 Playbook base card. That set in my opinion has the best looking plates.

I've picked up every one I've seen, but I collect a cheaper player. I missed a buy it now on one and saw another sell in a giant lot, so I know I can't get 100% completion on them
I found 3/4 out of the actual NT card plates though, which is cool.
