    Gender reassignment question

This is not about whether or not you believe in it or not.

We work with a person, born a man, who is in the process of becoming a woman.

This person has breasts already but you cannot tell unless you are out of the work environment.

So someone came to me yesterday and we were talking about an issue that this person was having that would not allow them to do their job. It's my job to make sure these issues are fixed and the job can continue.

The person said to me "XXXX has (this issue) and SHE can't continue"

We then discussed whether to call this person a man or a woman. I said I will continue to call the person a man or him because he still used the men's room.

My not to eloquent co-worker say he will you woman or she because the person has breasts.

What would you call this person if you were describing them?

Male genitalia and reproductive organs = man

Breasts do not equal being a woman. All humans have breasts, just some have bigger ones. I have seen chubby men with bigger breasts than many women, that doesn't make that man a woman.

Counter argument to breast meaning they should be called a woman. What if a real woman has breast cancer and has a mastectomy? Is she no longer a woman?

That person is a man. I brought this up in one of Duane's threads, probably wasn't the right place, but there are lawsuits about letting trans-gender men using female restrooms exclusively. Forget the rights of the millions of women that use women's restrooms because they are women, now they have to be subjected to the risks of letting the handful of confused men that think they are women or at least want to be considered women using female restrooms. And if you think there are no risks because trans-gender men are not risks to women, than think about the crack in the door this gives the real perverts to gain access to women's restrooms.

ive dealt with this,i was running a concrete crew and a male city inspector was changing sexes and i kept calling him mike and he wanted michelle but i didnt change because of my beliefs and we worked for different people so he couldnt do much about it

if you work for the same company i would ask him how he wanted to be addressed and do that just to protect yourself from a lawsuit

So when that person walks in and stands beside you at the urinal, do you still call them by the female name? Not arguing a point, just curious.

I wonder...if I claim that I am a woman that likes to dress like a man that is trapped in a man's body, can I go in the women's restroom?

Why would it come down to protecting yourself from a lawsuit? Why wouldn't it just be a matter of respect for the other individual?
