Man Ticketed For Driving While Eating A Cheeseburger
On the surface this appears pretty stupid. We all do it right? I did it probably 4 days last week. However, if texting distracts you from driving then doesn't unwrapping and eating a burger?

For the record, I find this utterly ignorant. Our society is becoming more and more of a police state every single day. Government entities taking more and more liberties to intervene in our daily lives and dictate to us what common everyday activities are or are not acceptable. The idea that the government knows what is better for you than you do is being perpetuated in every aspect of our lives.

We are slowly turning into a socialist country.

We've been doing that for decades sadly. It's now finally being accepted by a lot of the masses.

I'm not seeing the connection. Can you expand on this a little?

This seems very odd that eating food would be categorized as distracted driving. Hopefully this guy will fight the citation. I can see if maybe the guy dropped the burger and the officer witnessed him ducked down or something extreme like that, but if he was just holding it in one hand and driving I don't see how that can be anymore distracting than turning up your radio or talking to a passenger. If an officer can say eating is a distraction (assuming he was just eating a burger normally) that's pretty scary about what all they can ticket you for.

If you don't see it, then I'm not going to even to attempt to explain it to you.
Duane already has done that.

Why are you always so combative? I really want to know your thoughts. I'm not seeing how this equates to socialism. I guess I'll discuss with someone else.

Well Gov't socialism says the Gov't knows better what to do with your money/resources then you do. That may be the angle?

Yeah but this is a stretch. I don't see the problem with this. Like Duane originally said it is a distraction. I don't think seat belts should be required but these types of distractions should be outlawed.
