A Battle of Alberta Double Agent! This Piece is on Fire!
DwayneRoloson, born October 12, 1969 in Simcoe, Ontario was a standout goaltenderwith the University of Massachusetts, but never got drafted into the NHL. TheCalgary Flames, noticing some potential, signed Roloson as a free agent in1994. He remained with the Saint John Flames of the AHL for two seasons beforehe got his big break in 1996-97. Calgary called him up and in his first game onNovember 13, 1996, Roloson stopped 35 of 38 shots in a 3-3 tie against Dallas.Roli remained with the Flames for the grand majority of the season, appearingin 31 games and getting 9 wins for the team. He played one additional seasonwith Calgary before being signed as a free agent by the Sabres. There, Rolosonwas the backup to Dominik Hasek and had his first experience of the Stanley CupFinal while sitting on the bench. After two seasons in Buffalo, Roloson wassigned by the St. Louis Blues, but never saw game action with them. In 2001-02,the Minnesota Wild signed him to backup Manny Fernandez, and instead, Rolosonovertook the starting role on the team. In 2002-03, he was instrumental ingetting the Wild to the Western Conference Final. He remained with them until2005-06, when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. There, he led the team totheir first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 1990, but he was injured in gameone and without him, the team fell in seven games. He remained with the Oilersuntil the end of the 2008-09 season before the Islanders signed him. There, heplayed until 2010-11 when he was acquired by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Onceagain, in the playoffs, he led his team to the Conference Final, only to fall.He played one additional year in 2011-12 before retiring from play. He iscurrently the goalie coach for the Anaheim Ducks.
Inhis career, Roloson appeared in 606 games, recording a 227-257-42 record with 29shutouts, a 2.72GAA, 14 assists, and a 0.908% save average. Additionally, heappeared in 50 playoff games, recording a 28-18 record with a 2.54GAA, twoassists, and a 0.918% save average.
