    Deputies Beat Man Who Clearly Gave Up

    This is getting absurd. This guy ran from police when they tried to serve a warrant (for identity theft, not a violent crime) on him and they eventually caught up with him. Police helicopters videoed the whole thing as he lays on the ground and puts his hands behind his back and surrenders. Then cops swarm from everywhere and proceed to kick the crap out of him...literally kicking and stomping him. As much as I hate to say it, I am seeing more and more evidence that local police departments are taking on a gang mentality. This was a pure and simple beatdown.

    I have no issue with proper punishment. If you watch the video this guy clearly took a vicious beating when he wasn't even resisting arrest and posed no threat to the police.

    I agree, but it drives me crazy that all these issues derive directly from criminals committing crimes.

    I am unsure what the answer is, but both things need fixing.

    I couldn't agree more. The whole incident would be avoided if the guy simply allowed himself to be arrested from the beginning. Running never results in good things.

    How could THESE ISSUES derive from anything else? The essence of being a criminal is to not get caught. The essence of being a cop is to catch criminals. There's going to be confrontations when the two meet. It's up to the NON-CRIMINAL to act within the law.
